Hydroaviasalon-2018 sums up its results

The 12th International Exhibition and Scientific Conference on Hydroaviation Hydroaviasalon-2018 successfully completed its work with record-breaking results: 203 participating companies, the largest-scale business program, major contracts for supply of more than 180 aircrafts and helicopters. The 2018 event is unparalleled in terms of innovations in the business program – for the first time ever experts’ discussions covered the topics of digitalization and robotization, creation and application of unmanned aircraft systems. Finally, Hydroaviasalon became a real festival for residents and guests of Gelendzhik: demonstration flights and competitions within aerobatics tournament MAKS Cup with the participation of leading athletes took place in the sky over the Gelendzhik Bay, while its water area hosted competitions as part of the Youth Division Competitions of the Russian National Sailing League and the Russian Aquabike Championship.

Exhibition Program

In 2018, Hydroaviasalon showed higher results than the last year’s exhibition in terms of the number of exhibitors and set a record. 203 companies from six countries around the world presented their products and services. The display area exceeded 4,000 sq.m. Companies’ stands were located in fully air-conditioned A and C pavilions. Pavilion D housed “Digital Industry” exposition with 42 participating companies. A range of aircrafts were presented at Hydroaviasalon for the first time; the innovations included the short-range L-410UVP-E20 aircraft and the Т-500А light aircraft with flotation landing gear. A total of 52 aircrafts were displayed at static display areas in Gelendzhik Airport, at the hydrobase of the Beriev Aircraft Company and in flight, and 6 motor boats were demonstrated.

Business Program

The Business Program of Hydroaviasalon-2018 became busier and more diversified. New topics included “Creation and Operation of Unmanned and Robotic Systems”, “Hardware and Software Packages and Digital Platforms.” Over 200 speakers, including world-famous experts, took the floor at more than 60 events that were attended by more than 2,500 people. IntellectPro engineering platform was presented and tested at the event. Working in 12 groups, 120 experts laid out their vision for digital transformation of the aircraft industry.

The Congress Center with an area of 1,800 sq.m. was specially built to ensure comfortable work of the specialists and housed “Digital Industry” exposition, conference and roundtable halls and the press center.

Contracts and Supplies

The salon became a full-fledged trade fair. Contracts for supply of 150 helicopters designed by Russian Helicopters Holding to the National Service of Sanitary Aviation were signed during the four days of work. The helicopter company will also supply the helicopter Ka-32A11VS to Avialift Vladivostok, and two helicopters Ansat to Dagestan company Aviapatrol. RusAvia became the original customer of the T-500 agricultural aircraft. The State Transport Leasing Company signed contracts for supply of four SSJ100 aircrafts to Severstal Aircompany, and a Mi-8 helicopter to Scientific and Production Company PANH. The Beriev Aircraft Company also concluded large-scale deals: contracts for supply of six Be-200 aircrafts and an option for nine more aircrafts of the same type were signed with airlines from the USA and Chile.

Demonstration Program and Sports Events

Despite tough weather conditions, the audience was very enthusiastic about the flight program. Aerobatic teams Swifts and First Flight rose in the sky over the Gelendzhik Bay. Demonstration flights were performed by amphibious aircrafts Be-200ChS and Be-103, light-engine flying boats, helicopters.

Hydroaviasalon-2018 hosted the largest number of sports events in the exhibition’s history. The preliminary round of aerobatics tournament MAKS Cup was held for the first time. By the decision of the jury, Roman Ovchinnikov became the winner with 2,290 points. Dmitry Samokhvalov with the result of 2,225 points was a little behind. Yury Shurko and Irina Markova got 2,170 and 1,550 points, accordingly.

Competitions of the Russian Aquabike Championship were also held during the exhibition days. The Championship featured racing across three different disciplines: slalom, circuit racing and freestyle. The most intense battle took place in the freestyle discipline, that was finally won by Sergey Chemezov. Leading Russian athletes, champions in different extreme water sports competitions, made a gift to residents and guests of Gelendzhik by staging a unique water show Space Odyssey. The night version of the show in neon lights with fireworks was held during the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

A stage of the Youth Division Competitions of the National Sailing League was also held.

Career Training Events

Hydroaviasalon-2018 hosted a variety of events in the field of career training and career guidance. United Aircraft Corporation held a forum for the talent pool. Youth gliding, sailing and motor boating sports centers Aviastart, Scarlet Sails and Formula of the Future established in Gelendzhik made their presentations. To increase children's attendance at the salon, organizers of the exhibition introduced free entrance for children under 14. During four days, the salon was attended by more than 3,500 children, both with parents and within organizes groups.

Demonstration of children’s scientific and technologic creativity was raised to a new level. Works of young inventors, participants of aerospace periods of summer camps organized by United Aircraft Corporation, were on display at the pavilion “Aviation of the Future.” Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov presented a notebook and a 3D printer to school student Maksim Kozhevnikov, who had promised to patent his unmanned aircraft VZHIK two years ago, on Saturday, September 8. The Minister, in his turn, encouraged the initiative and inventive boy with a valuable gift.

Hydroaviasalon became a festival for enthusiasts of aviation, residents and guests of Gelendzhik. 26,400 thousand people visited the exhibition for four days. 321 journalists were covering the work of the event.

The city public transport and taxi company ensured transport accessibility of the event. Two free intercept parking lots with free shuttle buses running from there to the exhibition venue and the Gelendzhik Airport were organized for convenience of the audience.

The 12th International Exhibition and Scientific Conference on Hydroaviation Hydroaviasalon-2018 is organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The facilitator is United Aircraft Corporation. The exhibition operators are Aviasalon JSC and the Beriev Aircraft Company.
