ÌÀÊS 2011 brings business results
Zhukovsky. August, 20 – Organizers of the International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS 2011
summed up the business program. Practically, the efficiency ratio of the
Salon 2011 exceeded all previous exhibitions.
One of the most important achievements was the
creation of an atmosphere of business activity aimed at the establishment of
mutually beneficial relations, conclusion of deals, conduction of presentations
and negotiations.
Speaking about the results of the work in the days of the
visits of specialists, the General Director of “Aviasalon”, JSC Vladimir
Borisov emphasized that “against the background of a large number of events
that took place in the early days of the Salon, we can confidently say that MAKS
took place as a business platform”.
The main activities within the business program were
held in the first four days. Among them: 25 scientific and technical conferences,
research and practice conferences, seminars and round tables including discussions
with international participation, more than 20 press conferences and press
briefings, wide-ranging presentations of dozens of projects and programs in aircraft
engineering. Extensive business programs were implemented by the Ministry of
Transport of the Russian Federation and Moscow City Government, “Russian Helicopters” and the European Space
Agency. Such events as The “Russian Helicopters” Day, “Tupolev’s” Day and “The Day
of Moscow” were also held.
842 companies from 40 countries became the participants
of the Salon. 241 aircraft was presented, 91 aircraft and helicopter took part
in the flying program. According to organizers, 100 thousand of specialists, exhibitors
and guests had visited the exhibition during the first three days.
The contract trading volume of MAKS 2011 surpassed the
rates of all previous exhibitions. The final results will be announced after
the exhibition closing, even though the preliminary results indicate that during
the first four days several major contracts and agreements were signed at a cost
far exceeding the mark of $10 billion reached two years ago.
Eventual success of MAKS 2011 business program
confirmed the readiness of the infrastructure and installations created by “Transport-exhibition
complex “Russia”, JSC for holding exhibition and congress events of international level.
The next major event, scheduled from June 27 to July 1, 2012 will be the Second International Forum “Engineering Technologies”.

“United Aircraft Corporation” signed firm contracts
for more than 100 aircrafts, including options and agreements of intent – more
than 230 aircrafts. The total amount of concluded firm contracts is 7.5 billion
dollars. Cost of the options package and preliminary agreements is more than 5
billion dollars.
Besides aircraft orders the UAC and a number of joined
companies signed an agreement aimed at the development of competencies in the
field of the creation of aircraft components made of composite materials which
should provide a competitive edge for UAC aircrafts.
“Russian Helicopters” JSC announced the signing of two
major deals to supply domestic civil airlines with Mi-171 helicopters. 40 helicopters
are already contracted by “UTair” airline and 39 by “Gazpromavia” airline. The
cost of the agreement is not disclosed by the parties, but experts estimate it
could exceed $ 500 million.
“Ilyushin Finance Co.” JSC and the Bombardier
Aerospase Company signed an agreement of intent to purchase three aircrafts
Bombardier CS100 and seven CS300 with an option for 10 more CSeries aircrafts. Firm
contract catalog value exceeds 640 million dollars. JSC “Ilyushin Finance Co.” also
signed pre-contract agreement to supply three An-158 aircrafts with an option
for another three liners in the interest of airline Cubana de Aviacion.
Airbus Company and “Transaero” Airlines signed a memorandum of purchase of eight
aircrafts A320neo, catalog value of the transaction is estimated at 730 million
dollars.
During MAKS 2011 number of agreements related to the
establishment of cooperation in different lines of aviation activity were
signed. The Director General of the State Corporation “Russian Technologies”
Sergey Chemezov and The President of “United Aircraft Corporation” Mikhail
Pogosyan signed an agreement on strategic partnership.
The State Corporation “Russian Technologies” and the
Boeing Company announced the strengthening of cooperation in production and
processing of titanium and the business expansion in the distribution of aircraft
components and assemblies as well as aviation services. The Boeing Company had
also signed a memorandum under which the experts of Boeing Flight Services
division and Jeppesen Company will cooperate with their Russian colleagues to
improve the operational efficiency and acceptance rate of the leading Russian
airports.
The Director General of the State Corporation “Russian
Technologies” Sergey Chemezov and The President of The SAFRAN Group Jean-Paul
Herteman signed an agreement on the establishment
of Russian-French Joint Venture to produce laser inertial navigation systems.
An important quadripartite agreement was signed
between JSC “United Aircraft Corporation”, JSC “Rosnano”, Holding company “Composite”
and the All-Russia Institute of Aviation Materials. The parties plan to implement
the polymer composite materials produced on carbon fiber base in future
civilian and military products of UAC.
The airline “Volga-Dnepr” and State Enterprise “Antonov”
(Ukraine) signed two agreements. One of them involves the modernization of the An-124-100
aircrafts operated by Russian carriers. It’s planned to make an upgrade of 10
aircrafts. It was also signed an agreement on joint market promotion of ramp
transport aircrafts An-178.
At MAKS 2011, JSC “Rosoboronexport” and “Aviakor –
Aviation Plant” JSC signed an agreement on cooperation in the promotion of
turboprop An-140 aircraft. Besides, “Aviakor” entered into an agreement with
the manufacturer of special systems JSC “NPP “Radar MMS” on the installation of
this company equipment at An-140 in order to create special versions of the
aircraft.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Airbus
and “VEB-Leasing” Companies. The document envisages cooperation in financing
and leasing of aircrafts, including the exchange of experience, expertise and
information in the field of aircraft financing.
Corporation “VSMPO-Avisma” and Airbus Company signed a
Memorandum of Understanding for strategic cooperation in production and
delivery of value-added products and co-developed projects. “VSMPO-Avisma” also
signed an additional agreement on titanium supply with Airbus and Goodrich.

signed cooperation agreements with several Russian companies: “United
Aircraft Corporation” JSC, “UAC-Transport aircrafts” JSC, “Myasishchev Design
Bureau” JSC, “Ilyushin Finance Co.” JSC, “Russian Helicopters” JSC, “Mil Moscow
Helicopter Plant” JSC, “Kamov” JSC, “Concern “Aviapriborostroyeniye” JSC and “Aviaagregat” JSC.
The interregional agreement on trade and economic
cooperation in aviation sphere was signed at the Salon. The agreement envisages
cooperation in the development of regional air transportation, the development
of regional airports, airlines and small aircraft manufacturers. Parties of the
agreement are Ulyanovsk, Moscow, Samara Region, Tatarstan Republic and Perm Region.
The Chairman of the Board of JSC “Aviasalon” Igor
Zolotov and Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Ulyanovsk region Vildan
Zinnurov signed an agreement on exhibition activities cooperation. One of the
items of cooperation between the organizers of the International Aviation and
Space Salon and the International Air Transport Forum was the conduction of cross-cutting
activity.
The starting joint event was the Roundtable “Modern
production model in the aircraft industry”. The solemn presentation of certificates to the
first residents of Ulyanovsk Port Special Economic Zone took place as a part of
the Roundtable. The Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Elvira
Nabiullina passed the documents to representatives of companies- residents.
The package of agreements on energy conservation and
energy efficiency was signed by the State Corporation “Russian Technologies”, “Russian
electronics” Company and representatives of several regions. In particular, the
“Russian Technologies” and the “Russian electronics” agreed to cooperate in the
production and implementation of energy-efficient lighting systems in the
regions of the Russian Federation, then the agreements were signed with representatives of Ulyanovsk, Kostroma and Republic of Tatarstan regions.
