“BURLAK” TO BE TESTED IN OCTOBER 2007
OAO NPO Saturn announced its readiness to test the new D-30KP-3 “Burlak” (Hauler) engine in October 2007. The company is demonstrating its engine for the first time on the Ilyushin Il-76LL flying laboratory aircraft.
The switching from the D-30KP-2 to a more advanced D-30KP-3 will make it possible to use the Ilyushin Il-76 in every country of the world. The new engine meets the ICAO environmental aircraft noise and emission standards. Apart from advanced environmental-friendly characteristics the engine is a 13-ton thrust and its fuel consumption is 10% less. Besides it has better resource characteristics.
